Profound Alternatives (2026): Tools That Track AI Visibility, and What None of Them Measure
Profound raised $96M to count how many times AI names you. 6 real alternatives do the same job from $29/month. Here is the honest comparison, and the one thing no tracker on this list measures: whether AI can tell you apart at all.

Every list of Profound alternatives starts from the same assumption: you need what Profound sells, just cheaper. Profound closed a $96M Series C at a $1B valuation in February 2026, led by Lightspeed, and added a further $180M Series D in September 2026, bringing its total raised to roughly $335M. That money bought the category-leading dashboard for 1 question: how many times did an AI engine mention my brand?
It is a fair question. But before you compare 6 trackers on price, ask a harder one: what happens after all of them tell you the same score? Every tool on this list counts the outcome. None of them measure the cause, which is whether an AI model can tell you apart from your category in the first place.
What Profound sells, in 1 sentence
Profound runs structured prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews daily, then reports where your brand appears, how it is framed, and how you rank against rivals. CEO James Cadwallader built the Answer Engine Optimization category around that loop, and Fortune 500 clients pay for the depth. The gap most buyers hit is simpler: no public price, no self-serve trial, and a sales cycle before you see your own data. That gap is what the alternatives below exist to fill.
The alternatives, compared
| Tool | What it measures | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Ahrefs Brand Radar1 | Mentions and citations across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot | SEO teams already paying for Ahrefs |
| Peec AI | Multi-model citation tracking, share-of-voice dashboards, source analysis | Mid-market teams that want speed under $100/month |
| Otterly.ai2 | Prompt-level brand visibility and link citations across 4 base engines (more via paid add-ons) | Solo marketers and small teams starting out |
| Scrunch | Brand presence in AI answers plus the sources engines cite | Mid-market and agencies needing action layers |
| Semrush AI Toolkit3 | Prompt tracking, competitor research, AI search site audit per domain | Teams already inside the Semrush ecosystem |
| Hall4 | Brand monitoring historically across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot (now part of Tracksuit; self-serve access currently waitlisted) | Anyone who wants a free tier before committing, availability permitting |
Read the middle column again. 6 different tools, 6 price points, 1 measurement: did the machine say my name? That is worth knowing. It is not worth confusing with knowing why.
How we compared these tools
We measured thisWe checked every price and product fact on this page against each vendor's own pages on 29 September 2026, and linked those pages so you can check them again. Four had changed since our July version: Peec AI and Scrunch repriced, Profound raised a $180M Series D and stopped publishing plan prices, and Hall became part of Tracksuit with a waitlist. Where a vendor publishes no price, we say so and name who reported the figure.
The 6 alternatives in detail
Ahrefs Brand Radar
The strongest choice if you already run Ahrefs. Brand Radar checks AI answers against 448M+ search-backed prompts and added YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit mention tracking in early 2026. The catch is the bill: it is a $199/month add-on per AI index on top of a base plan from $129/month, so realistic totals land between $328 and $1,148/month. Reviewers flag the missing Claude and Grok coverage as a real blind spot.
- Best for: SEO teams already paying for Ahrefs
- Price: $199/month add-on on top of an Ahrefs base plan from $129/month; realistic totals $328–$1,148/month
- Pros: YouTube, TikTok and Reddit mention tracking; rides on an existing Ahrefs subscription
- Cons: Missing Claude and Grok coverage; the add-on stacks on top of a base plan bill
- Verdict: Strongest choice only if you already run Ahrefs; the add-on pricing stacks fast if you do not.
- Switch if: you're an SEO team already paying for Ahrefs.
Peec AI
The mid-market favourite, and the fastest riser: $29M raised and past $4M ARR within 10 months of launch. Starter is $95/month and Pro is $245/month on monthly billing, per its pricing page on 29 September 2026. Strong measurement, cleaner interface than most, weaker on telling you what to do about the number.
- Best for: Mid-market teams that want speed under a modest monthly budget
- Price: Starter $95/month (50 prompts); Pro $245/month (150 prompts)
- Pros: Fast-growing, clean interface
- Cons: Weaker on telling you what to do about the number
- Verdict: Strong measurement with a clean interface, aimed at teams that want speed over an action layer.
- Switch if: you're a mid-market team that wants speed and don't need detailed action recommendations.
Otterly.ai
The cheapest real entry point. Lite is $29/month for 15 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Copilot; Standard is $189/month for 100 prompts; Premium is $489/month for 400. Google AI Mode and Gemini cost extra, and API access only arrives at Standard. Fine for a first look at whether AI mentions you at all.
- Best for: Solo marketers and small teams starting out
- Price: Lite $29/month (15 prompts); Standard $189/month (100 prompts); Premium $489/month (400 prompts)
- Pros: Cheapest real entry point; covers 4 major engines at the base tier
- Cons: Google AI Mode and Gemini cost extra; API access only arrives at Standard
- Verdict: Fine for a first look at whether AI mentions you at all.
- Switch if: you're a solo marketer or small team just starting out.
Scrunch
Built for teams that want monitoring plus recommendations. As of September 2026, its entry Starter tier runs $250/month on annual billing ($300/month monthly) and the Growth tier $417/month annual ($500/month monthly), with the core plan covering ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Copilot; Enterprise expands to 9 engines including Claude and Grok. Scrunch's plan names and prices have churned repeatedly through 2026, so check its current pricing page before budgeting.
- Best for: Mid-market and agencies needing action layers
- Price: Starter $250/month annual ($300/month monthly); Growth $417/month annual ($500/month monthly); Enterprise custom, expanding to 9 engines including Claude and Grok
- Pros: Monitoring plus recommendations; Enterprise covers 9 engines
- Cons: Plan names and prices have churned repeatedly through 2026 — confirm current pricing before budgeting
- Verdict: Built for teams that want monitoring plus recommendations, priced for mid-market and agency budgets.
- Switch if: you're a mid-market team or agency needing action layers, not just a dashboard.
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
A $99/month per-domain add-on covering 25 prompts. It also folds into Semrush's broader plan bundles alongside classic SEO tracking. The obvious pick if your team lives in Semrush already; the prompt limits pinch fast if it does not.
- Best for: Teams already inside the Semrush ecosystem
- Price: $99/month per domain for 25 prompts
- Pros: Folds AI visibility into existing Semrush SEO tracking
- Cons: Prompt limits pinch fast if you don't already live in Semrush
- Verdict: The obvious pick if your team already lives in Semrush.
- Switch if: you're already inside the Semrush ecosystem.
Hall
Historically the only one here with a genuinely free plan: 1 project, 25 questions, 300 answers per month, refreshed weekly, with paid tiers reported at $199, $599, and $1,499+ per month and coverage including Claude, which Ahrefs skips. As of this review, Hall is now part of Tracksuit, and its site directs new visitors to a waitlist rather than self-serve signup or pricing, so treat the figures above as historical until Hall's next phase under Tracksuit is public.
- Best for: Anyone who wants a free tier before committing, availability permitting
- Price: Historically a free Lite plan (1 project, 25 questions, 300 answers/month) plus $199/$599/$1,499+ paid tiers; currently gated behind a Tracksuit waitlist
- Pros: Historically the only genuinely free entry point in this list; Claude coverage included
- Cons: Self-serve access is currently unavailable following the Tracksuit acquisition
- Verdict: Was the free-tier pick; confirm current availability given the Tracksuit acquisition before counting on it.
- Switch if: you want a free baseline first and Hall's waitlisted access has reopened by the time you check.
What none of these 7 tools measure
Here is the part every roundup skips. Profound, Brand Radar, Peec, Otterly, Scrunch, Semrush, and Hall all sit at the output layer. They report whether the machine named you last Tuesday.
That reading also depends on which engine you ask: a 2025 University of Toronto study found AI search services differ significantly from each other5 in the sources they use and how sensitive they are to phrasing. Not 1 of them measures the input that decided it: whether your brand reads as itself or as the category average when a model retrieves it. A model gives generic answers for a mechanical reason, it defaults to the statistical mean of your category unless something in your signal forces it to pick you specifically. And left alone, a model will average your voice into that mean.
This is why brands churn through trackers. The dashboard drops, you publish more, the dashboard stays flat, you switch tools, and the new dashboard reports the same flat line with different fonts. The number was never the problem, because the cause sits upstream: distinctiveness, the measurable distance between how you sound and how your category sounds. Trackers count the vote; they cannot explain why it was cast. Distinctiveness is why the vote went the way it did, and the metric that follows from it is Share of Recommendation: how reliably a machine chooses you, not how many times it happened to say your name.
At Ivanooo, Firoz Azees built the cause-side instrument, one that scores how far your voice, entity, and proof sit from the category average, because a tracker can tell you that you are losing without ever telling you why.
